In late 1997 Thompson villagers were asked what amenities they would like in Thompson and a village green was top of the list. The village has a rich history of community activities that has involved residents supporting a range of events and activities. It once boasted holding annual Fun Runs, Hog Roasts, Fetes, Music & Beer Festivals.

The Millennium Green siting is ideally placed to host these type of activities. But what it also needs is people to support it.

So if you are looking to be part of village life, or just visiting the area, everyone is welcome to enjoy its open spaces, children's play area or a a starting point for accessing local walks.

Please take a look around our website and check out what is on offer. If you are interested in getting involved, whether its offering your services to be part of the Committee, the Working Party Group, or support and attend activities and events on offer, don't hesitate in contacting one of the Millennium Green team.

There are numerous benefits to getting involved in voluntary community activities. You can help improve the environment, learn new skills, make friends and it is good for your mental and physical health.

A recent survey carried out by Keep Britain Tidy (2021) revealed that 86% of respondents said that volunteering helped improve their mood, more than half (52%) agreed it helped them meet new people and make friends and 91% agreed they felt more pride in their local area after participating (source: Breckland Council 21.3.22 #KeepBritainTidySpringClean 2022).
