Creation
In 1998 Thompson purchased an area of land in the center of the village to create a village green in time for the Millennium Celebrations. The Thompson Project Group had been raising money to fund the work and along with grants from various sources the work began.
Photographs and map of the Millennium Green before the hard work began with it's transformation.
After consultation with the village the final plan was approved and work could begin.
Plans included, open spaces, children's play area, natural habitats for wildlife.
Many hours were spent by volunteers to create the green before the grand opening in 2000. Digging, pruning, planting and more planting was carried out over the two years of development.
